In May 2024, NEC announced that they will stop supporting all on-site business phone systems over the next few years.
They recently shared an update about the future of their On-Premises Unified Communications (UC) products. This update explains the support timelines, when products will be phased out, and extends some end-of-life (EOL) dates. The goal of these changes is to help businesses understand the transition away from on-site phone systems more clearly.
Important Dates
- End of System Protection: April 15, 2024
- No further purchases for the Extended System Protection will be allowed after this date.
- End of New System Sales and Add-on Sales (Hardware): December 31, 2024
- This is the last date for ordering new systems and hardware add-ons.
- End of Shipment: March 31, 2025
- This is the final target date for shipping any purchase orders received before the end of new orders.
- End of Add-on Sales (Software License Only): March 31, 2030
- After this date, no further software license add-ons can be ordered.
- End of Add-on Sales (Software Assurance Only): December 31, 2025
- No further software assurance add-ons can be ordered after this date.
- End of Support (EOS) and End of Maintenance (EOM): March 31, 2030
- End of all technical support and software maintenance. Some products may have earlier dates as specified.
